Episode 51: A Whole Staff of Noodlers

Gophers beat writer and Hanson fan club member Amelia Rayno joins us this week. We start off with friendly small talk that somehow morphs into a solid 45 minutes of talking about BIGFOOT (yep) and then get to the boring Gopher stuff (tourney chances, Pitino, recruits, etc). Then we discuss Bigfoot some more.

Also mentioned: Detlef Schrempf, ginkgo biloba, lumberjacks, Hooters, whiskey, and Avatar. Pretty magical episode, you guys. We may have peaked on this one.

  1. 9/10 Proud of myself for making it to the end. Maybe Amelia can convince Sid to come on the podcast. He turns 94 on Saturday.

  2. Somehow your guest managed to drag this show to all time depths. What drivel. Even I had to bail early

  3. Thank you for the feedback, Al. For future consideration, what kind of guests would you like us to book? Are there topics of conversation you prefer over others? We appreciate you listening and are always interested in hearing ways to make things better. I personally thought this podcast was good, but opinions can vary. Thanks again.

  4. @ Sportive, I know you people have lives and opinions about topics besides sports but if/when you ever get around to bigfoot speculation again, keep it to 10 seconds or less eh? That is, if you absolutely can’t avoid the topic in the first place.

Here’s my advice, and then I’ll leave you guys alone.

The formula for building a podcast is very simple: book better guests. All the time, aim for someone bigger. And no offense to Amelia, but she was a sizeable step down from even the Parker Hagemans and Aaron Gleemans you’ve had on before.

Here’s a couple names off the top of my head.
    Mark Rosen
    Dan Barreiro
    Tom Bernard
    Mike Gelfand

Book a few of the super local celebs, then move up:

    Nick Swardson
    Louie Anderson
    Chris Pratt

But before you invite anyone, get a professional audio setup because you sound like a bunch of amateurs.

  5. Great podcast – keep up the great work! I’m glad you have a laid back pod that can talk about any topic – it’s like the lockerroom banter I used to have with friends and it is hilarious. I think I’d be disappointed if you had the likes of Dan barreiro on the show, but maybe that’s just me. I enjoy the glory hole/fake reality show/bigfoot talk, personally.
